Most lottery naysayers scoff at the idea of playing the Powerball lottery, chalking off a win to being nothing more than pure luck.
However, if luck really is the only deciding factor in playing the Powerball lottery, then how and why have certain people been able to win the Mega Millions, Powerball, and other major lotteries more than once?
Are we, as lottery players really expected to believe these people are lucky enough to beat odds, of which are around 175 million to 1, multiple times?
Believe it or not, there are multiple past lottery winners who have claimed to utilize specific lottery strategies to put the odds in their favor and not just beat the lottery once, but on multiple occasions across different lottery platforms.
So with all this said, we went out and found the best lottery strategies to apply to the Powerball lotto to help you win.
1. Forget “Quick Pick”
Both in stores and while playing the lottery online, players have the option to use randomly generated “quick pick” numbers to use as their ticket numbers. According to past winners, every time you select “quick pick” numbers, you get a different set of random numbers, so your odds of winning will always be at their lowest by using this approach. So whatever lotto game you’re playing, in this case the Powerball, never use quick pick numbers.
2. Branch Out From Birth Dates
A common approach to picking lottery numbers is to use birthday numbers of friends and family. This isn’t always optimal since by limiting your ticket numbers to birthdays, you’re limited to choosing less than half the numbers that are available, 1 through 31. Rather than using birthday numbers on a single ticket, spread them out across multiple tickets.
3. Stick With Your Gut
If you have an instinct about a specific number sequence, or have found certain numbers that have helped you consistently generate smaller prize winnings, stick with those numbers. According to one past winner, players should use those numbers on every single ticket. Use different numbers for different tickets. After all, it’s the set of numbers that allow you to win the Powerball jackpot, not individual numbers. Repeating a number or two is fine, but overall make sure your “lucky” numbers are mostly different to increase your odds of winning.
4. Understand the Odds, Know Your Limitations
Understand that by playing 100 Powerball tickets, you have a much better chance of winning than if you played 10 tickets. But even with this said, play only with what you can afford to lose. Consistently profitable lotto players understand how to set and stick with a budget. Figure out what you can comfortably afford to spend on Powerball tickets on a monthly basis, and remain within that budget. Doing otherwise could ruin your chances of winning any Powerball prizes for good.
